Travelling with children: seats and Kazakhstan’s rules
Under clause 157 of Kazakhstan’s traffic rules, a child under 12 may not be carried without a child restraint or another device that lets the standard seat belt hold them properly. The front seat is stricter: only a child restraint is allowed there.
The driver is liable — including a taxi or transfer driver — and the parents’ consent does not remove that liability. So the seat has to be ordered in advance, together with the transfer. A restraint costs from 500 ₸ on top of the ride, and the manager confirms the exact amount with the order.

What Kazakhstan’s traffic rules require
- A child under 12 may not be carried without a child restraint or another device that lets the standard belt secure them (clause 157 of the traffic rules).
- On the front seat, only a proper child restraint counts — the child’s height makes no difference.
- From the age of 12, the ordinary seat-belt requirement applies.
- Liability sits with the driver: article 593 of the Administrative Code, 5 MCI (21 625 ₸ in 2026), or 10 MCI (43 250 ₸) for a repeat within a year. A fine is also possible when the device is there but not secured, or the child is not strapped in.
- The rules make no exception for taxis, and the parents’ consent does not relieve the driver of liability.

What we provide
- Certified car seats, infant carriers and boosters for older children — on prior request.
- ISOFIX anchors in the cars, and the devices are cleaned between trips.
- A restraint costs from 500 ₸ on top of the ride, and the manager confirms the exact amount with the order.
A seat is not a nice-to-have: without it a trip with a small child simply will not start, so requesting one matters as much as giving the pickup address.
What to specify when booking
- How many devices you need — one per child under 12.
- Each child’s age and approximate weight: that determines the seat group.
- How many people and bags travel with the children — with a pram and suitcases a sedan gets tight, so a minivan is the safer choice.
- A pickup time with margin: requests need at least 10 hours, and 24 hours is calmer with children.
Frequently asked questions
Up to what age is a child seat required in Kazakhstan?
Until the age of 12. On the back seat a child restraint or another device that allows the standard belt to hold the child correctly is permitted; on the front seat only a child restraint is. From 12, the general seat-belt rule applies.
Who pays the fine if there is no seat — the passenger or the driver?
The driver. Under article 593 of the Administrative Code the fine is 5 MCI (21 625 ₸ in 2026), rising to 10 MCI — 43 250 ₸ — for a repeat offence within a year. The rules grant taxis no exemption, so a driver may refuse to start the trip without a restraint.
Do you provide a seat and what does it cost?
Yes: car seats, infant carriers and boosters for older children — on prior request. A restraint costs from 500 ₸ on top of the ride, and the manager confirms the exact amount with the order. The cars have ISOFIX anchors.
What should I specify when booking a transfer with a child?
The number of devices plus each child’s age and approximate weight — that is how the right seat is chosen. Do not leave it to the last minute: 10 hours ahead at the least, and 24 hours is calmer with children, so the seat is ready at pickup.
Can I bring my own seat?
Yes, you may use your own — the driver will help fit it to the standard anchors. If you fly with it, allow for boot space: a seat takes as much room as a suitcase, so a family with luggage is usually better off in a minivan.
Each ride is priced individually; the amount is fixed when the order is confirmed.
